Starboard Pro-kids World Championship Youth Freestyle
Held for the second time on Bonaire. From the 3rd till the 6th of August 2006, kids from all over the world came and participated in this great event. Read more about it on the following link:
Thursday the 3rd of August from 1400 Hrs. registration started . It was nice to see that a lot of kids flew in from all over the world to compete here on Bonaire.
We talked a lot about windsurfing ofcourse. Some kids went on the water for the first time without wet-suit. What an experience must that be. I only went into the water of Lake Garda in 2004 and had to wear a wetsuit for the first time. ( I an tell you it was horrible, but very neccesary because the water was freezing) We all went on the water because of the cameramen who where very eager to take a lot of pictures of all the windsurf-dudes jumping around in the nice blue, shallow and warm waters of Sorobon.
Next day, the 4th of August the heats started at 1400 Hrs.All the competitors where very anxious about "who is in my category" Winds were very light but all went very good in my heats. I competeted against 8 other boys in catergory 10-11 years. I got first on the 4th and first on the 5th of august - check points at http://www.prokidsfreestyle.com/BONAIRE2006overallpoints.htm The third and final day Joup and Dylan had to compete for the second and third place. Also my friends Mike and Jamil who started windsurfing only a year ago competed did great and they deserved a big applaus. I hope they will keep on training in the future so we can have a lot of fun on the water together.
